What happens in the first therapy session?

The first session is a time to get acquainted and assess: what you will be asked, how confidentiality works and what is not expected of you. A step-by-step frame to ease pre-appointment nerves.

İlk görüşmeHow do I choose which expert to see?
The "Find an expert" tool suggests one to three experts in four questions. If you are not sure, ask for a free 15-minute intro call; we will listen to what you need and refer you to the most suitable expert in the centre.
İlk görüşmeIs the intro call really free? What is discussed?
Yes. The 15-minute intro call is not a therapy session; we do not take a detailed history. We listen briefly to why you are looking for support and explain the suitable service, expert, fee and available days. You are not expected to decide at the end.
İlk görüşmeWhat happens after I fill in the appointment form?
The form does not create a confirmed appointment. Our front desk contacts you during office hours, usually the same day, and you set the day and time together according to the expert's calendar.
SeanslarHow long does therapy last?
It depends on the topic, the person and the goals; we do not give a fixed number of sessions at the start. After the first 2–3 sessions we make a working plan and review it together at intervals. You can end therapy whenever you wish.
SeanslarWhat is the difference between a psychologist, a counsellor and a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who diagnoses and can prescribe medication. A clinical psychologist has a master's or doctorate in clinical psychology after a psychology degree. A psychological counsellor has a degree in guidance and counselling. When we think medication may be needed, we refer you, with your consent, to the psychiatrist we work with.
SeanslarMy partner does not want to come; can I start alone?
Yes. You can start with individual sessions about the relationship. If your partner later wants to join, you can move to couple sessions; in that case they are usually held with a different expert.
Ücret ve iptalHow much do sessions cost? How do I pay?
Current fees are on the Fees page. Payment can be made after the session in cash or by card; online sessions are paid in advance by bank transfer. An invoice is issued for every session.
Ücret ve iptalWhat if I cancel my appointment?
If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance there is no charge. Late cancellations and missed sessions without notice are charged; medical emergencies and unexpected events are exceptions.
